What Is Kratom?
Kratom is a plant-derived substance often sold as powders, capsules, teas, extracts, and shots. Some people use it for pain, energy, mood, or to manage opioid withdrawal. For others, regular use can lead to dependence, withdrawal, and health risks.
What Is 7-OH / 7-Hydroxymitragynine?
7-OH, also written 7OH or 7-hydroxymitragynine, is a kratom-related alkaloid. Newer products may contain concentrated or enhanced 7-OH and are often sold as tablets, gummies, shots, drink mixes, or similar products. 7-OH can be associated with dependence and withdrawal.
Integrity does not sell kratom or 7-OH. This page is for people looking for help stopping or reducing use.
Kratom vs. 7-OH
Kratom
- Plant-derived product
- Often sold as powder, capsules, tea, or extracts
- Can cause dependence and withdrawal
7-OH / 7-Hydroxymitragynine
- Kratom-related alkaloid
- Often sold in concentrated tablets, gummies, shots, or drink mixes
- May be more potent and harder to stop for some people
- Can cause dependence, cravings, and withdrawal
Kratom, 7-OH, and Opioid Use Disorder: What's the Connection?
Many people who seek treatment report that they began using kratom to manage opioid withdrawal, reduce opioid use, or avoid returning to fentanyl, heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, or other opioids. Some continue using kratom or 7-OH because they believe it helps prevent a return to opioid use.
Over time, concentrated kratom extracts and 7-OH products can create their own cycle of tolerance, dependence, cravings, and withdrawal. Kratom and 7-OH are not FDA-approved treatments for opioid use disorder. Other people develop kratom or 7-OH dependence without any previous opioid history at all.
Because of this, Integrity evaluates the whole clinical picture rather than assuming every patient has the same diagnosis. A confidential assessment helps determine whether someone is experiencing kratom or 7-OH dependence, opioid use disorder, another substance use disorder, or a combination — including any co-occurring mental health needs.
When opioid use disorder is present, evidence-based medication treatment may offer a more stable and medically supervised path than continuing to rely on unregulated kratom or concentrated 7-OH products.
Kratom and 7-OH Withdrawal Symptoms
Kratom withdrawal and 7-OH withdrawal can look different for everyone. Some people experience only mild discomfort, while others find it harder to manage. Symptoms may include:
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- Restlessness
- Body aches
- Sweating or chills
- Stomach issues
- Irritability
- Fatigue
- Low mood
- Cravings
Because withdrawal can include anxiety, low mood, and sleep problems, a clinical assessment helps determine the safest, most supportive plan for you.

Medication Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder After Kratom or 7-OH Use
When a clinical assessment identifies opioid use disorder, medication-assisted treatment on Long Island may help. A licensed clinician decides whether medication is appropriate after reviewing your kratom or 7-OH use, opioid history, withdrawal symptoms, and safety risks. Medication is never started, stopped, or changed without medical guidance.
Suboxone
Suboxone contains buprenorphine and naloxone and is used to treat opioid use disorder by reducing opioid withdrawal symptoms and cravings. It is not FDA-approved specifically for kratom or 7-OH withdrawal, although a clinician may consider it for certain patients after evaluating their opioid history, kratom or 7-OH use, withdrawal symptoms, and safety risks.
Sublocade
Sublocade is a long-acting injectable form of buprenorphine used for opioid use disorder. A clinician determines eligibility and whether it is appropriate after a full assessment.
Brixadi
Brixadi is another long-acting injectable buprenorphine option for opioid use disorder. Whether it fits your treatment plan is determined by a licensed clinician after assessment.
The goal is not simply to substitute one substance for another. Medication treatment for opioid use disorder combines a regulated medication, medical monitoring, counseling, and ongoing recovery support.
Kratom and 7-OH Withdrawal Management, Detox, and Rehab Referrals
Many people can be supported safely in outpatient treatment. Integrity can evaluate withdrawal severity, opioid history, other substance use, physical and mental health, previous withdrawal experiences, and the safety of your home environment to recommend the right level of care.
Outpatient care may include medical evaluation, medication management when appropriate, counseling, intensive outpatient treatment, standard outpatient treatment, group therapy, individual counseling, dual-diagnosis care, and ongoing monitoring.
Some people need 24-hour medical detox or inpatient rehabilitation. Integrity provides outpatient assessment, treatment, and withdrawal management when clinically appropriate — we are not an inpatient detox or residential facility. When outpatient care is not the safest initial level of care, we coordinate referrals to trusted medical detox or inpatient rehab programs, and we help you transition back into outpatient treatment afterward.
